Privacy Policy for Steps4Dogs App

1. Introduction

  • 1.1. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.
  • 1.2. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used in the Steps4Dogs mobile app.

2. What data do we collect and why?

  • 2.1. Email address – required to create and manage your account and for communication (e.g., password reset).
  • 2.2. Password – if registering via email, your password is stored securely and encrypted using Firebase Authentication. We never access it.
  • 2.3. Walk data – including number of steps, distance, duration, and GPS location (only during active walks). This data powers your statistics and rankings.
  • 2.4. Dog profile - name, breed, gender, age, and avatar. Uploaded avatars are publicly displayed in rankings within the app.
  • 2.5. Country information – the user may optionally indicate their country of origin, whose flag will be displayed next to their dog in the rankings. This data is not verified and is not used for geolocation of the user.
  • 2.6. Firebase Analytics – we may collect anonymized usage statistics to help improve the app experience and stability.

3. Visibility of user data

  • 3.1. The user acknowledges that the uploaded dog photo (avatar), dog’s name, breed, and achieved results (e.g., number of kilometers walked or number of consecutive walk days) are visible within the app in public rankings (TOP).
  • 3.2. Uploading inappropriate, offensive, erotic, or illegal content is strictly prohibited.
  • 3.3. In case of rule violations, the user's account may be blocked or deleted without warning.
  • 3.4. If a user ranks in the top three of the public rankings (TOP), the dog’s name, breed, and result (number of kilometers walked or number of days in a walk streak) may also be published outside the app on Steps4Dogs’ social media profiles.

4. Data storage

  • 4.1. Data is securely stored on Firebase servers (Google), which comply with high data protection standards.
  • 4.2. Only systems necessary to run the app have access to your data. We do not sell or share your data with third parties.

5. Subscriptions and payments

  • 5.1. Steps4Dogs uses a subscription model – monthly or yearly.
  • 5.2. A 7-day free trial is available after registration.
  • 5.3. Payments are processed via Google Play or Apple App Store. We do not have access to your payment details.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

  • 6.1. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or transfer your personal data.
